Arsenal women confirm Russo signing after Man Utd exit

Arsenal have confirmed the free signing of England striker Alessia Russo following her release from Manchester United. The Gunners had two bids for the 24-year-old rejected in January – including a world-record fee – but have now secured her services on a free transfer following the expiration of her United contract.

Russo hit 10 goals in the WSL last season as Marc Skinner’s side finished runners-up to champions Chelsea. Russo did not sign a new United deal and was instead free to leave Manchester for north London.

Chelsea to target another Brazilian starlet

According to Vene Casagrande, after having almost sealed the deal with Angelo from Santos, the Blues are in talks with Flamengo for midfielder, Matheus Franca. Talks are ongoing between the two clubs with Chelsea willing to splash around a sum of €20 million (£17m/$22m).

Wolves under no further financial pressure to sell more stars after Neves and Collins exits

Wolves are under no further financial pressure to sell players in this transfer window, Sky Sports has been told, after the departure of some of the club’s biggest stars. Nathan Collins joined Brentford this afternoon in a £23m deal, to follow the club-record £47m sale of Ruben Neves to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia and the £8.5m fee earned for the transfer of Conor Coady to Leicester. Adama Traore, Joao Moutinho and Diego Costa have also been released to free up funds within the Wolves wage bill.

Wolves’ financial concerns were well known, and without those departures it was very possible the club would be in breach of Financial Fair Play rules within the next 18 months. Sky Sports claimed the six departures have now eased those money worries, although there is still likely to be a cautious approach to any possible player incomings.

Wolves have already rejected a bid from Napoli worth £30m for centre-back Max Kilman, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham. It is understood Wolves are considering their options with regards to Kilman, who they value in excess of £35m.

Wolves don’t need to sell him but may choose to do so if their valuation is met so that cash can be reinvested in the squad. It is equally possible that Kilman will stay at Molineux and sign an improved contract.
