Muslim group rejects Sanwo-Olu nominees list

Some Muslim faithful in Lagos State, under the aegis of Muslim Community of Lagos State, on Wednesday, stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly to protest alleged discrimination by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu against Muslims in his proposed cabinet appointments.
The governor recently sent 39 commissioner-nominees to the Assembly for screening and confirmation.
But the protesters stormed the Assembly on Wednesday with placards with various inscriptions, such as “Muslims, say no to official discrimination,” “LSHA, don’t rubber-stamp injustice, reject this list,” and “All we ask is fairness; all we demand is inclusion , among others”
Boko Haram ethnic factions battle, kill 82 in Borno

An inter-ethnic clash among Boko Haram fighters occurred in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, according to local and security sources living in Baga and areas along Lake Chad fringes.
In a report by Daily Trust, the clash was triggered by the killing of seven Boko Haram fighters from the Buduma tribe. The fighters were executed by their commander on Bukkwaram Island after their failed surrender to the Nigerian military on Tuesday.
According to the source, “Their colleagues, whom they confided in, betrayed them and informed their commander of their plan to surrender. They were later intercepted and taken to Bukkwaram Island where the commander sentenced them to death by firing

President Bola Tinubu allocated portfolios to the 45 ministerial nominees on Wednesday, nine days after they were screened and confirmed by the Senate.
As Nigerians begin to react to who got what in Tinubu’s cabinet, Vanguard noted about 10 newly-created or modified ministries by the President.

Meet Nigeria’s new Sports Minister, John Enoh

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday appointed the Cross River State-born politician, Senator John Enoh, as the Minister of Sports Development.
The PUNCH reports that the Federal Government also separated the Ministry of Sports Development from Youth, unlike what was obtained under previous administrations. A former member of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Momoh, who is from Edo State, is now the head of the new Ministry of Youth.
Some stakeholders in the sports sector on Wednesday have expressed shock over Enoh’s appointment.
