Drama As Senator Moves Motion For Suspension Of Keyamo’s Ministerial Screening

A Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, on Monday, moved a motion for the suspension of the ministerial screening of a ministerial nominee from Delta State, Festus Keyamo.

Nwokocha’s motion was seconded by his colleague from Abia-South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio thereafter subjected the motion to a voice vote but the lawmakers were divided on the matter.

Dont Grant Terrorists, Bandits Amnesty, Peace Institute Tells FG

The World Institute for Peace has urged the Federal Government not to grant amnesty to terrorists and bandits.

The advice came on the heels of a reported call for amnesty by bandit kingpins in North-Western states on Sunday.

Speaking at the International Peace Conference of the institute on Sunday, WIP Country Director, Lamina Omotoyosi, said instead of amnesty, the government should deploy more resources to flush terrorists and bandits out of the country.

Ondo Senator Seeks Establishment Of Revenue Ministry

The senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, Jimoh Ibrahim, has called for the creation of Ministry of Revenue to serve as a coordinating platform for all revenue-generating agencies.

This came ahead of federal cabinet formation with assignment of portfolios to the 48 ministerial nominees awaiting Senate’s confirmation.

Traditional Ruler Wife Kidnapped In Nasarawa

A traditional ruler, the Emir of Gurku, Jibrin Mohammed and his wife have been abducted by gunmen in Gurku, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has confirmed the abduction. DSP Ramhan Nansel, Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development to newsmen in Lafia on Monday, adding that the emir was abducted from his palace.
