FG’ll Review Workers Salary–Akpabio

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio said the Federal Government will implement a review of workers’ salary upwards to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

Akpabio stated this when the Ekiti state governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, and members of parliament from the state visited him in his office at the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The Senate President assured Nigerians that the Federal Government was aware of difficulties being faced as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

According to him, fuel subsidy removal was part of tackling corruption by the present administration as the fuel subsidy regime stinks to high heavens of corruption.

Mr Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party at the 2023 elections, says he can’t celebrate his 62nd birthday with over 327 Nigerians killed in Plateau and Benue this month.

He, however, humbly appealed to all those who desired to celebrate him with any kind of gifts, to look around them and extend such gifts to the people in need, especially in these difficult times.

Obi, who was a former governor of Anambra, made this known in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday. He further said that he doesn’t have any reason to celebrate his 62nd birthday due to the present state of the country especially in Benue, Plateau.

Nigeria Can Only Progress When There Is Peace–Alli

A member of the National Assembly, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has said Nigeria can only progress in the atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Alli who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) made the assertion while congratulating the Muslim Umma on seeing another Islamic year, on Wednesday.

Alli, in his 1445 Hijrah message encouraged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used to pull down the country, insisting that the country can only progress in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

Tobi Amusan Suspended For ‘Missing Drug Tests’

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has handed Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan a provisional suspension for allegedly missing drug tests.

AIU announced the sanction in a statement on its Twitter account on Wednesday.
