The crisis rocking the Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new twist yesterday as a former Deputy Governor of the state, Arc Abayomi Awoniyi, officially dumped the party.

He said he is leaving the party after 25 unbroken years of loyal and dedicated membership and service.

Awoniyi, who served as deputy to former Governor Idris Wada, conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP chairman in Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State, dated August 31, 2023.

Former Governor of Rivers State and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

The Minister and chieftain of the PDP also wants the likes of Sule Lamido and Aminu Tambuwal suspended from the main opposition party.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Wike said himself and members of the G5 should be congratulated for fighting for justice, equity and fairness within the party.

People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has said the only legacy of Vice-President Kashim Shettima is transforming Borno State from ‘the Home of Peace’ to hell fire.

Atiku said this in a statement by special assistant on Public Communications, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, while reacting to Shettima’s joke about him shortly after the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

Nigeria, Australia to partner on foreign training for local miners, says Alake.

Local miners can now sharpen their and acquire modern techniques in Australia, the Federal Government said yesterday through Solid Minerals Minister, Dele Alake.

He said the arrangement for free study programmes/ trainings, study trips and exchange programmes for mineral professionals was part of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s efforts to transform the solid mineral sector.

In a statement by the ministry’s Deputy Director, Information, Alaba Balogun, the minister said Nigerian professionals in the solid minerals sector will soon travel to Australia for more studies, courtesy of the pact the minister made with his Australian counterpart, Bill Johnson, in Perth.
