West African Bloc To Meet On Niger Coup On Thursday

ECOWAS heads of state (will) hold another extraordinary summit on the political situation in the Republic of Niger,” the 15-member bloc said in its first official reaction after Niger ignored Sunday’s deadline to reinstate democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

The summit is to be held in Abuja, Nigeria, whose president Bola Tinubu is the current ECOWAS chairman.

Heavily armed men suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday night, abducted the King of Gurku community in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, HRH Jibril Mamman Waziri, alongside his wife, Hajiya Sa’adatu Waziri.

After their abduction in the palace which is located around mountains in the area, the gunmen took the First-Class Royal father and his wife to an unknown destination.

Delta State government has begun the opening up of all major canals in the state as part of pre-emptive measures to ensure the free flow of water to existing rivers and prevent flooding in major cities across Delta,

This is coming after the prediction of heavy flooding, particularly in some coastal states of Nigeria by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

Ondo Senator Seeks Establishment Of Revenue Ministry

The senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, Jimoh Ibrahim, has called for the creation of Ministry of Revenue to serve as a coordinating platform for all revenue-generating agencies.

This came ahead of federal cabinet formation with assignment of portfolios to the 48 ministerial nominees awaiting Senate’s confirmation.
