Tinubu In First Closed-Door Meeting With Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, met with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; and the service chiefs at the State House in Abuja.
In attendance at the meeting include the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen T. A Lagbaja; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla; and the Chief of Air Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun was also present at the security meeting.
The meeting was not unconnected to the worrisome security situation in the country. Monday’s meeting is the President’s first formal engagement with the NSA and the service chiefs since their appointment on June 19, 2023.
Fire Guts Hotel In Onitsha

Fire has gutted Sopurum Hotel, located in the Nkwelle community, a commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, burning a substantial part of the structure.
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, but it was gathered that the incident started at about 4:30 am on Monday.
As of the time of filing this report, men of the fire service from Delta and Anambra states were already on the ground battling with the situation.
The Anambra State Fire Chief, Martins Agbili, could not be immediately reached for reactions as calls and text messages to his telephone line were not responded to.

Kyari, Shell global director visit Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting the Shell Global Upstream Director, Ms Zoë Yujnovich, at the State House, Abuja.
Yujnovich, who assumed office as Upstream Director on July 1 has been a member of the Shell Executive Committee since 2021.
She arrived at the Aso Rock Villa alongside three other Shell officials at about 11:45 am and was ushered into the President’s office complex for the meeting scheduled for 12:00 noon.
Our correspondent observed that the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, is also seated for the meeting.
Woman sets policewoman, children ablaze in Anambra

A woman, identified as Nnaemaka Nwosu, has allegedly set a policewoman and her two children ablaze in Anambra State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday at Nnokwa community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspect, who hailed from Amawbia was said to have been divorced by her husband and shortly after became homeless and in dire need of accommodation, before she confided in the policewoman who offered her accommodation in her apartment.
According to a source in the area who preferred to be anonymous, trouble started when the suspect had an altercation with the policewoman, resulting in the fight and her subsequently hitting the policewoman with a pestle till she fell and became unconscious
