If Apapa Was In PDP, They Would Have Been Petting Him With Ice Cream- Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, the former senator of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has recently weighed in on the leadership issue that has been causing problem within the Labour Party. He has offered an interesting perspective on the matter by suggesting that if the factional national chairman of the party, Lamidi Apapa, were a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would likely receive a more favorable treatment from his political peers.

Through a tweet posted on his official and verified Twitter account on Saturday, August 19, Shehu Sani made his views known. In the tweet, he remarked, “If Lamidi was in PDP the party would have been petting him with ice cream.” This comment from the former lawmaker has been interpreted as a commentary on the perceived neglect and lack of attention that Lamidi Apapa is currently experiencing from both the Obidients and the Labour Party itself.

Sani’s words appear to suggest that the reception and recognition Apapa is currently receiving within the Labour Party contrast with what he might expect if he were affiliated with the PDP. The implication being that the PDP, as a different political entity, might treat Apapa more favorably and perhaps even indulge him with more acknowledgment and consideration.

Lamidi Apapa, on his part, has been resolute in asserting his position as the chairman of the Labour Party, despite the ongoing disputes. During a recent event held in Lagos to inaugurate the 24-man State Caretaker Committee of the party, Apapa reiterated the validity of his role as the party’s chairman. He pointed out that his status as the chairman of the party is legally recognized by the courts within Nigeria.

Speaking to party members and leaders, Apapa conveyed a message of assurance and steadfastness. He urged them not to be afraid, declaring that there is nothing to fear. He also encouraged his supporters to proceed with legal action if necessary, emphasizing that he is prepared to face any challenges to his authority in court. Furthermore, Apapa demonstrated his confidence in his role by asserting, “I am the chairman of the Labour Party for the entire country,” as quoted by the Nigerian Tribune.

In light of these statements, the situation within the Labour Party seems to be characterized by a complex interplay of political dynamics, legal claims, and assertions of authority. The involvement of figures like Shehu Sani and Lamidi Apapa adds an extra layer of intrigue to the ongoing saga within the party.
