Palliatives not solution to food insecurity – Gov Zulum

ABUJA – THE Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Zulum, Monday, asserted that the current palliative measures rolled out by President Bola Tinubu will not solve problem of food insecurity, and other challenges.

Zulum made the assertion in a remark during the assumption of office by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security and Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari and Senator Aliyu Abdullahi respectively.

The leader of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a video published Monday that his group was making Africa “freer” and suggested he was on the continent.

Prigozhin, a former Kremlin ally whose group rebelled against Russia’s military leadership in June, has made few public appearances since the mutiny.

The group maintains a strong military presence in Africa, where it has partnered with several nations, including Mali and the Central African Republic.

We’ll implement President’s agenda for solid minerals sector – Alake

ABUJA – THE newly sworn-in Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, Monday, assured to begin implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda for the solid minerals sector.

Alake stated this during his assumption of duty at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, where he said that his team is absolutely committed to ensuring the solid minerals sector is galvanized in accordance with Mr. President’s directive based on the mandate of the sector.

He also disclosed that there will be an unveiling of a roadmap for the sector some days to come.

Agric Minister, Kyari vows to tackle hunger

ABUJA – AS food prices continue to soar, the new Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Monday, acknowledged that one of the biggest problems in the country is hunger and vowed to tackle it head-on.

Kyari made this assertion while he assumed office at the headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja along with the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi.

He said: “It is a long road to where I am seated here I think it started 27 years ago. I won’t bore you with history, all I can say is I am ready and I am willing to commit 100 per cent to the service of this nation.
