Oloyede Told To Apologise To Joy

A lawyer, Johnmary Maduakolam, has threatened to sue the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, and the management of the Board should they fail to tender an apology to Anambra pupil, Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was accused by JAMB of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result.

The lawyer in a letter addressed to Oloyede which was sighted by our correspondent noted that Mmesoma was incapable of forging her own results. He also accused JAMB of failing to protect the identity of the girl.

He said, “I am Chief Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, a legal practitioner and the President of Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam Initiative for Education which is a pet project with a special interest in education and holistic development of the young person.

We’ve Handed Case To Security—JAMB Adamant

Despite public uproar, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has remained adamant, insisting that the Anambra schoolgirl, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, results.

Mmesoma’s UTME result has been shrouded with controversy as JAMB declared that her 362 score in the recent test was forged.

JAMB had on Sunday alleged that Mmesoma used an undisclosed software to manipulate her 2023 UTME result.

The development had stimulated controversy and set the internet on fire as concerned citizens expressed skepticism on the claim made by JAMB.

The schoolgirl also vehemently denied the allegation a viral video on Monday, saying she printed the result from JAMB portal and could not have been able to alter it.

But in a statement on Tuesday, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, said the matter had been handed over to security agencies for investigation, insisting that Mmesoma was not the first person to have manipulated results of examinations conducted by the board.

Arrest killers of Prof Ajewole, ASUU tasks IGP, Oyo CP

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, tasked the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, to deploy his tactical team to assist the Oyo Police Command in unmasking the killers of Professor Opeyemi Ajewole of the Department Social and Environmental Forestry Development of the University of Ibadan.

Professor Ajewole was gruesomely gunned down by yet-to-be-identified assailants, on June 5, 2023, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

ASUU, in a statement by the Chairman of the UI chapter, Professor Ayo Akinwole, said the acting IGP should be interested in the case, deploy the necessary human and technical expertise to unravel the mystery surrounding the killing so that evil people will be made to face the wrath of the law.

Akinwole said: “The Union awaits the arrest, parade and prosecution of the killers of Professor Opeyemi Ajewole.

“His family needs to experience that justice is served on those behind his gruesome killing. And by so doing, the entire people of Nigeria will have more trust in our policing system.

Court Nullifies Nnamani’s Expulsion From PDP

The former Senator representing Enugu East, Chimaroke Nnamani, has expressed delight over the verdict of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which nullified his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a statement he signed and issued in Abuja, on Monday, Nnamani explained that the court nullified his expulsion describing PDP‘s action as “null and void.”

According to the Senator, Justice J. K . Omotosho in his ruling following a suit he filed after the erstwhile National Chairman of the PDP Dr Iyorchia Ayu-led National Working Committee (NWC ) expelled him for alleged anti party activities, held that the party lacks the power it exercised.

Nnamani said, “The court held that the plaintiff was not given fair hearing besides the fact that only the National Executive Committee (NEC) and not the NWC has has the power to discipline a member of the National Assembly.
