The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has advocated for a proper implementation of tax justice to enable higher-income earners in the country to pay higher taxes than low-income earners.

Mr Eustace James, NLC Focal Person on Tax Justice, made the call in an interview with the Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lamented the failure of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to make available a certified copy of the judgment, three days after it was delivered.

Atiku spoke in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu.

The statement said, “By not making available to Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, the certified true copies of the judgment of Wednesday for its filings at the Supreme Court, the Presidential Election Petition Court, is undermining Atiku’s and Nigerians quest for justice”.

PEPT Verdict: APC Chieftain Urges Atiku, Obi To Accept Tinubu’s Hands Of Fellowship.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, have been urged to accept the hands of fellowship extended to them by President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) confirmed President Tinubu’s win in the February 23 presidential election on Wednes­day.

In a statement, Okelekwe, the APC senatorial candidate in Anambra Central in the previous general election, stated that now is the time for every well-mean­ing Nigerian to prioritise the common welfare of the country and its residents over personal gain.

Police confirm killing of DPO in Rivers.

Rivers Police command, has confirmed the killing of the DIvisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ahoada East Local Government of the Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police(SP).

Angbashim was killed by suspected members of Iceland Cult group in Odemude area of the council where he served.

The incident reportedly happened between 6pm and 7pm on Friday.

NSIB Commences Investigation Into United Nigeria Airlines Serious Incident At Lagos Airport.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) said it has commenced investigation into the serious incident involving United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) aircraft at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

A statement on Friday morning by Mr. Tunji Oketunbi, the General Manager, NSIB, said that the investigating agency had been notified of the serious incident, while investigation had also commenced immediately.
