For millions of Nigerians and international observers, the wait for the judgments of the Presidential Election Petitions Court is over with the cockcrow of Wednesday (today).

With bated breath, many will stay glued to their digital devices for the televised live proceedings from the Tribunal venue at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, the nation’s political capital.

The curiosity mixed with anxiety are palpable from Port Harcourt in Southern Nigeria to Potiskum in faraway Northern region and from Yola to Oyo as Nigerians turn their eyes to the judiciary for its verdict on the February 25, 2023 keenly contested presidential election.

The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Prophet Solomon Alao, has advised President Bola Tinubu to lead ECOWAS in identifying and fighting the root causes of military coup in Africa instead of threatening war after the collapse of democracy in member-states.

He said no life of a Nigerian soldier should be sacrificed to keep any West African President in power when some of them have violated all tenets of democratic principles in their respective countries.

The clergyman spoke against the military coup in the republic of Niger and Gabon and ECOWAS decision of using military option if negotiations failed in restoring Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum in office.

He said ECOWAS should be more interested in preventing military interventions than fighting the consequences of bad governance and respect for the rule of law by some African leaders.

The party’s spokesperson added that they are aware of the efforts of the agents of the States to orchestrate problems and blame them on the political opposition.

He wished to emphasize that it is the right of the people in a democracy to demonstrate and the obligation of state security agents to protect the demonstrators and those not demonstrating.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday, said all passport backlogs should be cleared within the next two weeks, adding that there is no excuse for passport delay in Nigeria.

He also said he is in talks with service providers and the Nigeria Immigration Service to digitize and decentralize the process of fresh passport issuance and renewal.

The minister revealed this while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday night. The minister said owning the green passport is a right of every Nigerian and not a privilege.

According to him, it’s a right and not a privilege. He said that Nigerians want that right to be actually theirs, not by somebody offering them their right.
