Gov Aliyu well-prepared for governance — Shettima

As part of the celebration of 100 days in office of governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima has described the governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, as someone who has really prepared for governance before emerging as governor of the State.

The Vice President stated this on Sunday evening while performing the foundation laying ceremony of 500 housing estates in Kalambaina area of Sokoto.

The housing estate is one of the numerous projects lined up to celebrate the 100 days in office of the Governor Ahmed Aliyu administration in the State.

He said the previous office held by the governor under the administration of Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko which includes commissioner for works, health and one time Deputy Governor has really help him in the discharge of his current duties as the governor.

While commending the former governor and the leader of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, for developing such a candidate as governor of the state, the vice president revealed that the country is currently having a deficit of about 28 million as st today.

He described the former governor as not just a leader of the state but that of the entire North as well as Nigeria as a whole.

NFF approves NPFL name change

The Nigerian top-flight has been rechristened the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The new name was adopted at the Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in Uyo on Sunday.

The top-flight was previously called the Nigeria Professional Football League.

A date for the commencement of the 2023-24 NPFL season is yet to be announced.

Enyimba won the 2022-23 NPFL title.

Zamfara governor signs Executive Order, restructures MDAs

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has signed an Executive Order aimed at tackling inefficiency in the state civil service.

According to a statement made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Lawal Hussein, the Executive Order is an instrument to streamline ministries and refocus their roles to align with the goals of the administration.

The governor also carried out a comprehensive restructuring of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, of the state government.

The restructuring exercise involved creating, dissolving, merging and renaming certain MDAs.

The statement issued by the Permanent Secretary said, “It is also important to note that there have been modifications to the nomenclature for officers who attain the directorate grade levels (GL 15 and GL 16) in the Administrative Cadre.

N250,000 empowerment to Imo youths fraudulent – PDP, LP tackle Uzodimma

The main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party, LP, on Sunday, described Governor Hope Uzodimma’s N250,000 empowerment funds each to 15,000 Imo youths as fraudulent.

They stated this to newsmen in Owerri while reacting to the report that the alleged beneficiaries of the Uzodimma’s N250,000 cried out over unexpected debit from their bank accounts.

The PDP and LP said Uzodimma deceived the youths that he was giving them grants instead of explaining that the empowerment fund was a loan that would be repaid. The empowerment event took place in June 2021 at Dan Anyiam Stadium.

For the Labour Party, LP, Director of Media and Publicity, Chibuikem Diala, said: “Shock, anger, and disillusionment have swept through the Imo landscape in the wake of the unraveling of yet another of the alleged seeming endless schemes that the Gov Hope Uzodinma administration has unleashed on the hapless and helpless masses of the state, since it was infamously imposed on them, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
