FG Still At War With South-East—Ohanaeze Affiliate Group

Njiko Igbo Forum, an affiliate of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has claimed that the Federal Government is still at war with the Igbo in Nigeria.

President of the Forum, Rev Okechukwu Obioha said this in a statement made available to DAILY POST Thursday night.

According to him, the people of the South-East region would not be assuaged by the palliative being rolled out by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the petrol subsidy removal.

Obioha, who is also the Convener/Chairman, South-East Equity Group, SEEP, said insensitive and discriminatory policies of successive administrations remained a gross abuse on the psyche of the Igbo man in the country.

He noted that several years after the civil war, the people of the South-East were still being treated as the vanquished.

PDP CLoses Case Against Gov Sule, Presents 22 Witnesses

The People’s Democratic Party PDP and its candidate, David Emmanuel Ombugadu Thursday closed their case against the All Progressive Congress APC in the March governorship election in Nasarawa State.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, David Emmanuel Ombugadu had petitioned the All Progressive Congress APC and its candidate, Abdullahi Sule in the 2023 election challenging the declaration of Gov. Abdullahi Sule as the winner in the March 18 governorship election in the state

The petitioner closed his case after presenting his last star witness, Ayiwulu Baba-Ayiwulu who was the State PDP Collation Agent during the election.

We’ll invade Niger if diplomacy fails — ECOWAS

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, said yesterday in Accra, Ghana, that it will not hesitate to invade Niger Republic, if all efforts to reverse the coup in the country fail.

This came as the German government said it is in support of sanctions imposed on the military junta in the country by the European Union, EU.

It will be recalled that ECOWAS Heads of State and Government had at its second extraordinary summit in Abuja last week, activated its standing force should the junta in Niger refuse to restore to power ousted president of the country, Mohamed Bazoum.

The threat came as defence chiefs of member states met in the Ghanaian capital to strategise on the next line of action on Niger and discuss details of the standby force. The meeting continues today.

Umahi will replicate Ebonyi magic as Minister of Works – Ohanaeze assures Tinubu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has expressed confidence that the newly appointed Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, would replicate the “Ebonyi magic” in tackling the infrastructural deficiencies in Nigeria.

Ohanaeze made the remark while congratulating Umahi on his ministerial appointment by Tinubu.

The body expressed hope of Umahi delivering because he is a “champion of infrastructural revolution” in Ebonyi State during while he was a governor.

A statement by Ohanaeze’s factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze said the body was hopeful about Umahi’s appointment.

The organisation also urged the other Igbo ministers appointed by President Tinubu to be worthy ambassadors of the Igbo people.

According to Isiguzoro: “We are delighted with the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
