Don’t drag Tinubu into domestic squabbles of Benue, CSN urges Audu Ogbe, Onoja, Others.

According to Vanguard news, The Coalition for the Survival of Nigeria (CSN) has called on notable figures including Chief Audu Ogbe, General Lawrence Onoja (rtd), and Hon. Inalegwu Adaje to avoid involving President Bola Tinubu in the domestic squabbles of Benue state.

The group made the statement on Monday during a press conference in Abuja.

Chief Ezekiel Afukonyo, chairman of the CSN, said: “We are shocked to hear the outbursts from Chief Audu Ogbe, Gen. Lawrence Onoja, and group over appointments.

“We appeal to this group of individuals not to drag Mr. President into the domestic affairs of Benue state.”

Afukonyo further emphasized that the appointment of Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) was a national issue and not based on state considerations.

He lauded President Tinubu for his demonstration of political brinkmanship and commitment to nation-building, asserting that the president saw a detribalized leader like himself with God-given talents.

The coalition also expressed confidence in the abilities of the current administration, saluting the courage with which President Tinubu has confronted the economic challenges facing the nation.

Afukonyo stated, “Like all Nigerians, we bear the pangs of the present hardship occasioned by the dire straits and constrictive circumstances surrounding the inception of office of the present administration.

According to Vanguard news, The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) is set to meet with the federal government today amid the ongoing strike action and looming nationwide protest.

The NARD president, Emeka Orji, while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, said the outcome of the meeting would determine if the doctors would embark on the planned protest.

Orji said, “I cannot mention the federal government representatives we will be meeting with for now. But we will disclose our next move after the meeting maybe in the next four to five hours.”

Recall that the association had embarked on an indefinite strike on July 26 over the failure of the government to implement the demands of members.

Some of the demands of the resident doctors include payment of the 2023 medical residency training fund (MRTF); immediate release of the circular on one-for-one replacement and upward review of the consolidated medical salary structure (CONMESS).

Others are payment of outstanding arrears of consequential adjustment, hazard and skipping allowance.

The NARD had announced that its members will embark on peaceful nationwide protests from Wednesday, August 9.

In a statement released by the club, Nkuku will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department after undergoing knee surgery.

Nkuku was substituted in the 22nd minute of Chelsea’s final preseason fixture against Borussia Dortmund after a collision with Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

Ministerial nominees: Deputy Speaker debunks report on South East leaders not happy.

According to Vanguard news, The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has debunked a report displayed on social media, stating that the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East are not at home with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of ministerial nominees from the zone.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy speaker,Levinus Nwabughiogu in Abuja, the report published by an online platform however did not name the so-called leaders.

“Ordinarily, such a report should not be dignified with a rebuttal as it is not worth anyone’s time. But for purposes of clarity and emphasis, moreso, to protect the sanity of the reading public, the office of the deputy speaker is hereby emphatically stating the report is not only a deluge of garbages, unfounded narratives and falsehood at its apogee but also the figment of the overheated imagination of the people and the medium that published it.
