Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has spoken on reports that he has resigned from his position.

The embattled former chairman fixed a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings last week.

The NEC and NWC were postponed due to the absence of President Bola Tinubu and rescheduled to Tuesday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 19.

Credible sources within the Presidency told The Guardian that Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, sent the resignation letter to the Chief of Staff of the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Sunday.

However, Adamu late Sunday was tightlipped on his status within the APC amid reports of his resignation.

The former governor said that he will not comment on the matter until Tinubu returns from the AU’s meeting.

“I won’t talk about the issue because the president is away,” Adamu told Daily Trust.

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State under the umbrella of Amalgamation of Support Groups for Tinubu, Shettima, have insisted that former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike should be rewarded with a ministerial position in the Bola Tinubu-led government.

The stakeholders, in a statement, said Wike was at the epicentre of the jinx-breaking result of Tinubu in Rivers State and should be allowed to benefit from the fruits of his labour.

The statement signed by the South East Coordinator of the group, Sir Victor Akpati, said it would be wrong to reward the Rivers State Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the last election, Senator Magnus Abe, with a ministerial appointment under the President Bola Tinubu administration.
