Akpabio’s Comment On NASS Payment To Senators Taken Out Of Context, Say Ohanaeze Youths

Socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Youth Movement (OYM) has said that the recent comment made by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on statutory payments to federal lawmakers for their annual recess was being taken out of context by mischief makers, who are hell bent on tarnishing the image of the National Assembly.

Female Deputy Govs Visit First Lady

The representatives of the female Deputy Governors in Nigeria have paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

According to a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, during the visit they pledged their support towards uplifting the lives of Nigerian women through the Renewed Hope Initiative, a pet project of the First Lady.

Obaseki To Pay N20,000 Palliative To Vulnerable Citizens

The Executive Council of the Edo State Government on Wednesday, disclosed that in line with the assurance Governor Obaseki gave to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) during his warning strike the previous week, the state government had set aside the sum of N500m to be given to the vulnerable citizens of the state at N20,000 per person, beginning from September, as palliative to cushion the biting effects of the removal of fuel subsidy and rise of fuel price.

 Stating the position of the Edo State Exco at a press briefing held after the Council rose, the state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Osa Nehikhare, also condemned the deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu, over alleged impeachment saga and warned of consequences.

Two Die, Five Injured As Vehicles Collide On Lagos Bridge

Two yet-to-be-identified persons have died in a crash that injured no fewer than five persons on Eko Bridge in Lagos State.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, said the crash involved six private vehicles including a fully loaded ‘MAC’ truck with number plate T-1501 LA.
