Adamu Resigns As APC Chair

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, tendered his resignation last night, Daily Trust reliably gathered.

Credible sources confirmed to this paper that Adamu, who emerged as the national chairman at the party’s national convention held in March 2022, has sent his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa, Abuja ahead of the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya.

One of the sources said Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, sent the resignation letter to the Chief of Staff of the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, around 4pm on Sunday.

Obi Tells Obidients What He Wants On His Birthday

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has reaffirmed his decision not to celebrate his birthday in light of the dire state of the nation.

Having chosen not to mark his birthday for the past two decades, Obi stated that he intends to uphold this resolve.

In a statement shared on his Twitter page on Monday, Obi revealed that he would be turning 62 on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023. Despite pressure from his supporters, including members of the Obedient Family and Labour Party, to celebrate, he urged them to redirect their efforts towards helping those in need.

Rather than presenting him with gifts, Obi encouraged his well-wishers to extend their generosity to hospitals, orphanages, homes for the disabled and elderly. By making such donations, he emphasized the importance of supporting the vulnerable and marginalized members of society.

While acknowledging the multitude of challenges faced by Nigeria, Obi expressed his unwavering belief that a functional and prosperous country is still attainable.

The former Anambra State governor urged citizens to maintain hope and not give up on their aspirations for a better Nigeria.

The Federal Government is leaning towards tackling the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy with a twin agenda.

This, according to Vanguard and Empowered wire sources, includes the provision of palliatives to cushion the effects of the removal of subsidy and N200,000 minimum wage put forward by labour.

Vanguard learned that this might set labour and organised private sector on a collision course with the Federal Government, as their processes at arriving at minimum wage, which the government is not following at the moment.

It was also learned that the absence of a Labour Minister to drive the negotiation process might further compound the issue.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, weekend, restated his commitment to partnering with traditional rulers to tame the insecurity challenges bedevilling the state.

The governor stated that the monarchs are central and pivotal in the peace-building process and maintenance of law and order in their respective domains, urging them to discharge their duties spiritedly to safeguard the lives of the residents.

He said this in Ikoyi Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area while presenting the staff and instrument of office to Onikoyi, Oba Akinwande Moses Ogundana.

Oyebanji, represented by his Deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, appreciated the monarchs for acting like true stabilisers and peacemakers in their towns.
