Reactions As Election Tribunal Announces Date To Deliver Ruling On Atiku And Obi's Petitions

A few hours ago, reactions began trailing a media report indicating that the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal currently seating in the nations’s Federal Capital (FCT) has announced September 6 as the date it will deliver judgment on the various petitions filed by opposition candidates challenging the outcome of the February 25 polls.

According to a publication posted by Sahara Reporters on its verified Twitter handle on Monday, September 4, a statement released by the Court Of Appeal announced that the five-man panel judges led by Justice Haruna Tsammani has picked Wednesday, September 6, 2023, to deliver judgment on the respective petitions filed by the PDP’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi challenging the victory of the APC and its flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the general elections.

The Court also announced that though the tribunal judgment will be beamed live to the homes of Nigerians, movement, however, will be restricted at the premises of the Court Of Appeal, adding that only persons with the necessary accreditation such as the legal counsels and members of the respective political parties will be allowed into the courtroom on the given date.

The statement then ended with an appeal from the court to members of the general public to cooperate in ensuring a hitch-free exercise on Wednesday.

Quite interestingly, the report has garnered quite a flurry of mixed reactions from a cross-section of Nigerians online.
