Tinubu’s solution to insecurity, poverty in north underway — Shettima

The Tinubu administration will, in the coming weeks, unveil an initiative that will address insurgency and poverty, among other challenges confronting Nigerians, especially those living in the northern region, according to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The vice president disclosed this on Sunday in a chat with journalists while on a condolence visit to Kano.

Premium times report that, Mr Shettima, accompanied by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, among others, were in the ancient city to commiserate with the government and people of Kano over the passing away of elder statesman Abubakar Galadanci.

The vice president stated that the president is committed to explain the definition and concept of contemporary governance as well as the problem we are currently experiencing in the north-west, which is further exacerbated by poverty, when discussing the strategy to solve issues facing Nigerians. The president is also resolved to address social isolation head-on, and he will introduce the Pulaku solution in the coming weeks.

There cannot be a military solution to the issue in the north-west unless we wish to fight a never-ending battle of attrition. A kinetic and non-kinetic solution is required.

Premium times report that, The Pulaku solution, which will address the concerns and social marginalisation of our Fulbe brethren in the north-west and work towards resolving the core causes of all banditry and insurgency in the country, would be made public in the coming weeks, Mr. Shettima added.

Earlier, after being welcomed by Governor Abba Yusuf upon his arrival in Kano, the vice president went to the palace of the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero, and commiserated with him over the death of the late Imam Galadanci, conveying President Tinubu’s sympathies.

The vice president travelled from the home of the emir of Bichi to the family complex of Mr. Galadanci, where he was welcomed by retired air vice marshal Nura Imam and professor Shehu Galadanci on behalf of the larger family.

In addition to expressing his condolences and asking Allah to grant the departed eternal rest, the vice president also prayed for comfort for the whole Galadanci family on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
