Tinubu: You're the only African leader Biden has requested to meet and it is a mark of regard- Envoy

The United States Envoy and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador Molly Phee, recently said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only African leader President Joe Biden has requested to meet. This gesture from President Biden reflects a high regard for Tinubu’s leadership. This information was shared by the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, through a statement.

As reported by Channels TV, Ambassador Molly Phee expressed the United States’ gratitude for President Tinubu’s contributions in establishing a favorable setting for this interaction. She highlighted the potential for encouraging significant American investments in Nigeria and conveyed the United States’ dedication to collaborating with Tinubu to strengthen both the Nigerian and regional economies.

In response, President Tinubu recommended that the U.S. envoy focus on fostering deliberate cooperation with autonomous African democracies, particularly in times when these democracies confront challenges from anti-democratic elements within and beyond the continent. Additionally, President Tinubu affirmed his commitment to completing his economic reform program despite the ongoing crisis in Niger Republic, with the aim of benefiting the Nigerians population.

In his words; “We appreciate your willingness to create an enabling environment for that. President Joe Biden is asking to meet with you on the sidelines of UNGA and you are the only African leader he(Biden) has requested to meet. It is a mark of his high regard for your leadership.”
