The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spokesperson, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has addressed the controversy surrounding the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a recent news story by the Punch paper.
In a conversation with a Punch reporter, Baba-Ahmed talked about how to remove divisive religious influences from public life and described the problem as being extremely complex. He emphasized that the quality of the nation’s lawmakers is aggravating the difficulty and referred to them as the lowest quality the country has ever seen.
He responded to critics of Muslim politicians like Tinubu and Shettima, saying they cannot convert the nation to Islam or turn it into a Muslim state. Baba-Ahmed allayed these worries by reiterating that Nigeria is still a secular country. He stated that rather than fixating on certain religious views, the focus should be on choosing the country’s course collectively.
