Tinubu Requested $500 Million From The House Of Assembly Because Subsidy Money Does Not Exist – Aliu Muhammed

The Chief Executive Officer of Magnate Communications, Aliu Muhammed, has stated the reason why President Bola Tinubu requested $500 million from the House of Assembly.

While speaking with the Vanguard paper, Aliu said, “I want to commend President Tinubu over his wish to have a living wage paid to workers. But if you sit down and look at the records and the price tag, you will see that we aren’t financially able to give Nigerian workers a living wage. There are so many leakages in government finances, and it is unfortunate.

Further speaking, he said, If you look at what Kyari, the MD of NNPC, said, I think that maybe it was an attempt to protect himself from being sacked. He said the subsidy has not been paid since 2016, and every year and month there is a budget for the payment of the subsidy. Where has this subsidy money been going to?”

“We should know how subsidy money in the last 7 years has been spent; otherwise, you cannot get to the root of the matter of subsidy. That is why Tinubu went to the National House of Assembly to request $500 million because the subsidy money is not in existence.” He further added that the N8,000 palliative to be given to Nigerians wasn’t going to solve any problems.
