: Tinubu replaces Cross River, Ondo nominees to NDDC board

Victor Akinjo has been replaced as the Ondo state delegate appointed to the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), following President Bola Tinubu’ s approval, TheCable reports.

The president gave the order to have Otito Atikase take his place.

Additionally, Tinubu chose Orok Otuk Duke in place of Asi Oku Okang, the Cross River State representatives.

Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in particular have criticised the appointments of Akinjo and Okang.

Ajuri Ngelale, the president’ s special adviser, announced the replacements in a statement on Friday.

” President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of the NDDC’ s Ondo State Representative nominee, Mr. Victor Akinjo, with a new Ondo State Representative nominee, Hon. Otito Atikase, ” the statement said.

” The President has equally approved the immediate substitution of a new Cross River State Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Otuk Duke, for the NDDC’ s choice for the position of Cross River State Representative, Mr. Asi Oku Okang.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, who was the NDDC’ s most recent managing director and chief executive officer, is also reappointed for a second term and will continue in that position while waiting for the Senate to accept his reappointment.

Okang’ s appointment was criticised by the APC branch in Cross River, which described it as ” annoying and politically suicidal. “

Akinjo’ s appointment was also rejected by the APC in Ondo, which said that it may ” demoralise” supporters who ” greatly contributed to the success of the ruling party during the elections. “

The president’ s decision came barely four days after he appointed the duo into the position. He has finally bowed to the pressure from members of his party to sack the appointees.
