The Department of State Service (DSS) suspended and then detained former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele, according to a story in the online publication Daily Post. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has now come out and explained why.

When asked about Emefiele’s suspension and imprisonment, President Bola Tinubu said, “The financial system was rotten under Godwin Emefiele as CBN governor.” This was revealed on Friday during an interactive session with Nigerians residing in France. According to Tinubu, the various currency rates made it impossible for those who reside outside of Nigeria to transfer money to their parents and family.
