During today’s ministerial nominee screening, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, who currently holds the position of President of the 10th Nigerian Senate, advised Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe against inquiring about the government’s response to court orders, stating that such a question would be preemptive.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe questioned the nominee, asking what actions he would take if the federal government chose not to comply with court orders, assuming his appointment was confirmed.

In response, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio abruptly interrupted, instructing Senator Abaribe to turn off his microphone, arguing that such a question was preemptive. He went on to express that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration prioritizes the rule of law, in contrast to what might have happened during previous governments.
