Three teens, aged 16 and 17, got into a messy public brawl over a lover, with one of them being marked and hurt with a razor blade in the Iju neighborhood of Lagos, where they live.
Two of the adolescents, Sonia Ahiwe, 16, and Nita Alele, 17, have been detained and charged with conspiracy and assault on the victim, who has only been identified as Olayinka.
After the victim met the boy, the victim allegedly removed them from an unidentified teenage boy they had previously dated. This resulted in a violent disagreement, which subsequently escalated into them fighting in public on the street.
During the scuffle, two of the teens joined hands, attacked, and sliced the victim on the breasts and other parts of her body with a razor blade. She reportedly bled excessively and was brought to an unnamed hospital for treatment.
The attack was reported to the Iju Police Division, and the two suspects were apprehended and held for questioning at the police station. During interrogation, it was learned that the DPO was furious with the suspects for fighting and utilizing weapons like razor blades at such a young age. As a result, the DPO directed the IPO to file a criminal complaint, and they were prosecuted at the Ogba Magistrates Court for alleged assault.
After being granted bail, the defendants were transferred to Court Four, where they were arraigned and remanded in custody. Regardless of their age, they will be tried for the crime they committed and may be sentenced to prison if found guilty.
