Those Complaining About Tribunal's IREV Ruling Celebrated When Same Ruling Was Made In Osun' -Liborous Oshoma

Popular Nigerian lawyer, Liborous Oshoma, has pointed out that those currently criticizing the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal regarding INEC’s use of IREV to transmit election results are the same individuals who celebrated a similar ruling in favor of the People’s Democratic Party during the Osun State governorship election petition tribunal.

Oshoma, speaking during an interview in a video (20:00) on Arise TV, explained that the law grants INEC the discretion to make changes to the regulations they established before the election, particularly concerning the use of IREV to transmit election results.

He stated, “If INEC provided a regulation and they find themselves unable to comply with that regulation, does the law permit them such discretion? The answer is yes. So, did you know that when the Supreme Court issued a similar judgment in the Osun State case, those who are now complaining celebrated that ruling? Regarding IREV, the Supreme Court ruled that INEC has the discretion to modify its regulations, and this worked in favor of the PDP. They celebrated it, declaring it a victory for democracy. So, it’s the same APC that complained about that Osun ruling that is now celebrating it.”
