'There Is Inequality In The Way An Igbo Man Is Being Seen In Nigeria' – Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah stressed the urgent need to address the marginalization experienced by the people of the South East region. He highlighted the inequality faced by the Igbo community in terms of representation and decision-making, leading to a feeling of discontentment among the average Igbo person. Ubah asserted that until these issues are adequately tackled, a true sense of belonging and unity within the nation will remain elusive. The senator also emphasized that the political structure of the Igbo people is adversely affected by this marginalization.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South, has voiced the concerns of the people in the South East region of Nigeria, claiming that they are strongly convinced of being marginalized at the federal level. In an interview with Channels TV, he expressed that the average Igbo person feels a deep sense of discontentment regarding the treatment of their region. Ubah emphasized the need to address the raised issues to put an end to the marginalization experienced by the people.

He said, ”There is inequality in the way an Igbo man is being seen in Nigeria. The way we are not having our way where we are supposed to have our way. And no Igbo man will tell you that he doesn’t have sympathy with how we are treated in Nigeria. Until some of these issues about marginalization are being addressed, then we can have a better understanding that we belong to this country. It’s affecting us and it’s affecting our political structure.”

According to Senator Ubah, the inequality faced by Igbo individuals in Nigeria is evident, as they are often denied their rightful influence and participation in decision-making processes. He further stated that no Igbo person would deny feeling sympathetic towards the treatment the region receives in the country. He emphasized that until the grievances of marginalization are acknowledged and effectively resolved, a stronger sense of belonging and unity within the nation cannot be achieved. Moreover, he emphasized that the adverse impact of this marginalization extends to the political structure of the Igbo people.
