The person that wants suspend me is someone who cannot even produce governor and 3 senators– Wike

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state and the minister of FCT, has said that the person who wants to suspend him is someone who couldn’t even boast of producing a governor or three senators.

Wike made this comment during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today show. The interviewer, Seun Okinbaloye, posed a follow-up question after Wike expressed that he doesn’t regret supporting Tinubu and opposing his own party’s candidate. Seun asked if Wike was concerned that his party, the PDP, might take action against him, possibly suspending or expelling him.

In response, Nyesom Wike questioned who exactly comprised the party leadership. He asked about the people involved. He then continued by stating that they are awaiting the conclusion of the Presidential panel’s work to identify those truly working for the party’s benefit. He questioned how anyone could even discuss the idea of expelling him. He emphasized the significant contributions his state has made to the party, highlighting that they provided a governor, three senators, 32 House of Assembly representatives, and 11 out of 13 House of Representatives members.

Wike went on to say that the person who would think of suspending him wouldn’t possess the ability to achieve comparable successes, such as producing a governor and three senators. He expressed a lack of familiarity with such an individual and stated with due respect that nobody would be capable of taking such an action against him. Wike questioned the authority of anyone to discipline him. He mentioned that he should be the one to call for discipline against those who violate the party’s constitution.

Nyesom Wike explained that the person who might try to suspend him from the party wouldn’t have accomplished as much as he and his state have for the party. He expressed his confidence that nobody with insufficient achievements could take such an action against him. He also emphasized that he believes he should be the one calling out those who go against the party’s rules, rather than the other way around.

While reacting, he said, “Let me tell you today, we are just waiting for the Presidential panel to finish, we will know who actually are those that are working well for the party. How can anybody talk about expelling me, a state that provided a governor, 3 Senators, 32 House of Assembly representative, 11 out of 13 House of rep? The person who will suspend me is someone who can not even produce a governor, 3 senators…I have not seen that person with due respect, nobody will do it.”
