The CBN Under Buhari Is The Most Opaque & Fraudulent Govt Institution In History Of Nigeria – Sani

Amid ongoing public uproar that has greeted the outcome of the financial audit carried out on the Central Bank of Nigeria by the Tinubu administration, civil rights activist, and former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has described the apex bank under the reign of former President Muhammadu Buhari as the “most fraudulent” government institution in the country’s history.

According to a Sahara Reporters publication on Saturday, August 12, the CBN audit has alleged that the Buhari administration used Nigeria’s foreign reserve as collateral while obtaining a loan to the tune of 10.6 trillion Naira ($13.8 billion) from banks in the United States of America back in 2022.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle to react, Sani, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), opined that if the audit report is true, the CBN Under Buhari’s regime would be the most fraudulent government institution in the country’s history.

Going further, the former lawmaker wondered how such could have happened the former president who has been known to accuse his predecessors of corrupt practices while in government.

He wrote; “The CBN under Buhari is the most opaque and fraudulent institution of government in the history of Nigeria, if what we read is the true situation of the apex bank.”
