TEARS As Junior Secondary School Student Is Swept Away By Flood In Ondo

A Junior Secondary School student of Mount Carmel Girls School, Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of the Ikare Akoko Local Government Area of Ondo State, identified as Motunrayo John, has been reportedly swept away by a flood after a heavy downpour occurred in the community.
According to what a source told PUNCH, the incident happened on Tuesday June 21, in Semusemu area of the town while the girl was playing with erosion.
She was said to have put her legs inside the water but unfortunately slipped into the water and was carried away.
The source added that the only thing found while searching for the girl was her mathematical set.
Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer in Ikare Akoko, Mr. Olatujoye Akinwande said the school principal, Mrs. Ajoke Asiwaju, reported the case at the police station and that a search and rescue operation had commenced.WATCH VIDEO
Recall that a five- year- old boy identified simply as Israel was also swept away by flood following heavy rain in Mowe, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State last year.
According to reports, the boy and his father were coming home from an outing when they both fell into a canal. Unfortunately, while attempting to save his son, the father was injured on his face and the son was carried away by the flood.
The mother of the young child who was swept away was said to be pregnant. A resident identified as Sobowale said when the rain began, he was still outside of his house.
