Mavin artiste Rema has prayed for divine protection and guidance for afrobeat legends.
The founder of Afro-rave, (an offshoot of Afrobeats), asked for God to continue to lead and guard those who are revered as Afrobeats icons.
This comes a few days after Wizkid, tagged a legendary figure in Afrobeats, completely dismissed rap music.
He asserted that rap was not only monotonous and exhausting, but also extinct, and that Afrobeats were the new pop.
Rappers in Nigeria reacted angrily to his comment, which strengthened Wizkid’s resolve to continue disparaging them.
Sarkodie, Nasty C, and Black Sheriff were declared to be the sole rappers in Africa by Machala, who later referred to Nigerian rappers as stupid and broke.
Rema has made the decision to speak out for the Afrobeats champions, whom Wizkid identified as the inspiration for all vocalists, while his outburst over rap music and rappers hovers and slowly fades away.
Praying via a tweet, the “Calm Down” crooner said: “Baba God guide & protect our Afrobeat Legends cause na dem dey motivate us, everybody say Amen.”
