Kwankwaso’s Camp Reveals What It'll do Next After NNPP Faction Sacked Ex-Presidential Candidate

Ladipo Johnson, an ally of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP on Tuesday, frowned at reports of the expulsion of the former Kano state governor.

According to The PUNCH reports, Johnson, who is the national auditor of the NNPP, said Major Agbo’s faction which sacked Kwankwaso, lacks the capacity to dismiss the former governor.

The NNPP chieftain promised that Kwankwaso’s camp would soon have a press conference to address the matter.

“Expel who? These people are no longer our people. They are out of the party and cannot speak on behalf of the party. Let them form their own party or go to court. It is as simple as that. There are so many important things to worry about in this country.

“How can they expel Kwankwaso? Someone whose relationship with the National Working Committee is intact here at the national headquarters in Abuja? We will soon be having a press conference to address this matter” he said.

Recall that on August 29, 2023, a faction of the NNPP led by Major Agbo suspended Kwankwaso for six months for alleged anti-party activities and hobnobbing with opposition politicians.

Agbo’s faction claimed that Kwankwaso had political discussions with President Bola Tinubu, then candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC); his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar; and Labour Party (LP)’s flagbearer, Peter Obi.

Following Kwankwaso’s suspension, the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) set up a Disciplinary Committee and directed it to invite the former governor to come and defend the allegations against him.

The NEC had warned that failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee, Kwankwaso would be expelled from the party in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution 2022 (as amended).

NNPP led by Agbo’s faction, however expelled Kwankwaso from the party over his failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee and accused him of financial impropriety relating to the mismanagement of public funds.
