Stop inciting Edo peoples against Tinubu, APC warns Obaseki

The All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday morning, warned the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, to stop inciting the people against the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The party also said the governor was blaming the Federal Government for the deplorable state of Edo roads accusing him of trying to put the blame of his “incompetence” on the new administration of Tinubu.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that Obaseki had issued a statement through his special adviser on media projects, Crusoe Osagie, in which he accused the federal government of being to blame for the state’s appalling federal roads and the severe suffering that its citizens had endured as a result of the removal of the gasoline subsidy, which caused the price of the basic good to skyrocket.

The APC, however, claimed that the governor of Edo State had “found a convenient way of putting the blame of his total failure on the less than three months old administration of President.

Tinubu which came into office with the road map of removing the burdensome fuel subsidy which has become a huge drain on the meager revenue of the Federal Government” in a press release signed by Blessing Agbomhere, the party’s publicity secretary for the South-South Zonal Organising Secretary.

In addition, the APC stated in the statement that Obaseki, who succeeded Adams Oshiomhole as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, had nothing “to show in terms of achievement in his over seven years in office but is instead flaunting the landmark developmental achievements.”

Despite taking office in 2008, when the state’s monthly revenue fell to N1.6 billion because of the global economic crisis and IGR was N30 million, bringing the total to N1.9 billion, the statement reads.

“So, rather than making the typical pledges of Memorandums of Understanding—which his government has a reputation for signing with bogus businesses without anything to show for it—we challenge the current Governor Obaseki to demonstrate to the world what impact he has been able to create.

“We urge Governor Obaseki to stop stirring up animosity among Edo State residents toward President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Nigerians are urged to exercise patience as the reform process will soon begin with the selection and swearing in of the cabinet.
