"Somebody Was On Her Way To Be Screened & You Removed Her, That Is Disgraceful" -Momodu Slams Tinubu

A prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken legal action against Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging inadequate vetting of his appointed ministers. The complainant criticized Tinubu for appointing a ministerial nominee who was subsequently removed on her way for screening, terming the move disgraceful.

As reported by Daily Post, Dele Momodu voiced these concerns during his appearance on the Mic On podcast. He contrasted Tinubu’s ministerial list unfavorably with that of his predecessor, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

He commented, “During Babangida’s era, I recall names like Akinyele, Bolaji Akinyemi, Bolasodun Ajibola, Tai Solarin, Wole Soyinka. You can’t say that today. Removing someone who was on their way for screening is disgraceful; it implies insufficient due diligence in appointments.”

Furthermore, the PDP member criticized Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, pointing out that some are relatively unknown, unlike past appointments. He emphasized the importance of a leader’s team and criticized the current situation as worse than Buhari’s team.

Mr. Momodu expressed his expectation of a star-studded cabinet, referring to the times when Okonjo-Iweala, Oby Ezekwesili, Nuhu Ribadu, and El-Rufai were part of the government under the PDP. He noted that the current approach contrasts with past practices.

It’s worth recalling that President Tinubu withdrew Dr. Maryam Shatty, a nominee from Kano State, replacing her with Mr. Festus Keyamo. Reportedly, Shatty was on her way for screening when she learned of her replacement.
