Fierce Niger Delta militant group, The Force of Egbesu, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the 2023 general elections in the country.

The Force of Egbesu, speaking through their leader, General Gbolodi, in a statement issued yesterday, commended Tinubu for a victory well-deserved, noting that Niger Deltans and Nigerians in general expected better service delivery from his administration.

The statement reads in part: “We, The Force of Egbesu hereby congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the 2023 general elections in the country.

“We want to state that his victory is well-deserved, as we trust he is capable of moving Nigeria out of the present economic adversity to becoming a robust economy.

“It is on record that The Force of Egbesu does not tolerate wickedness and oppression in any circumstances, as we strive for a better Niger Delta through our agitations.

“However, we are ready to support the President Tinubu-led administration to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to Nigerians because he has shown that he’s ready to work for the betterment of the citizenry.

“We also urge Nigerians to give Mr President the needed support and the enabling environment to deliver on his electioneering promises and pledges made to Nigerians before, during and after the general elections”.

Jonathan Mourns Bayelsa Ex-Chief Judge, Abiri

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed sadness over the death of the immediate past Chief judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri, describing her as a dedicated servant in the temple of justice.

In a condolence message by his Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, to the family of the deceased and the Government of Bayelsa State, Jonathan noted that the deceased left an enble track record of honesty and integrity, adding that the jurist would be sorely missed.

In the message, the former president stated: “I condole with the Abiri and Waritimi families and the Government of Bayelsa State on the demise of the immediate past Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri who died on Thursday August 3, 2023.

“Justice Abiri was a jurist with an enble track record of honesty, integrity and steadfastness in the pursuit of truth and justice. She was an incorruptible judge, a symbol of courage, hope and inspiration to many across the country.”Photo Credit: Google

He also described her as a dedicated servant renowned for her piety and total commitment to upholding the rule of law.“Her death is a big loss to her family, Bayelsa and members of the legal profession. I urge them to find solace in her notable strides and the fulfilling life that she lived. She will be missed by many Nigerians across the country. I pray that God grants all the bereaved the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he stated further.

Tinubu Finally Seeks NA Military Intervention in Niger

President Bola Tinubu has written the Nigerian Senate, intimating the proposed military action and other sanctions against the military officers who recently seized power in the Niger Republic by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.

Since the soldiers seized power in Niger on July 26, the leaders of the West African regional bloc headed by President Tinubu, have been in discussions, especially on sanctions against the coup plotters. However, the junta has remained adamant. Not even a delegation by Tinubu, yesterday, could de-escalate the situation.

His letter to the Senate was read on the floor of the Upper Chamber by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio. The letter read: “Political situation in Niger. Following the unfortunate political situation in the Niger Republic culminating in the overthrow of its President, ECOWAS under my leadership condemned the coup in its entirety and resolved to seek the return of the democratically elected government.

Tinubu nominates Keyamo as minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated former spokesperson for the Bola Tinubu presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo as minister.

Keyamo’s name as a ministerial nominee was announced on Friday.

President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday sent an additional list of 19 nominees.
