Sit-at-home: Our People Are So Afraid To Come Out Because Of The Indiscriminate Killing -Hope Uzodinma

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has said that the sit-at-home order in the South-East states has gone beyond what the governors in the region can handle. He said that people are now afraid to go outside because of the indiscriminate killing in the region. He said this while speaking to newsmen after he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday.

In the report which was made by Leadership on Friday July 14th, Governor Uzodinma said that what is happening in the South-East is not as simple as some people think.

He said – “The situation in the South-East is not as simple as some people think. There’s no government directive for sit-at-home procedure to either local government directive nor any state nor the zone.

“But the situation is that because of the indiscriminate killing of people and high level of insecurity, our people are so afraid to come out.”

He said that there is fear in the people in the region because of what they have seen in the past.

Governor Uzodinma was asked what he had to say about the claim from the former militant leader, Asari Dokubo, that his men are helping the federal government to fight insecurity in the South-East, and in his response, the Imo State Governor said that he does not know anything about that.

Uzodinma was at the Presidential Villa to arrange an appointment between the President and the South-East leaders and Ohanaeze Ndigbo over the rising insecurity problem in the South-East region.
