Gabon Coup:'Ali Bongo And His Father Would Have Ruled Gabon For 56 Years Cumulatively By November' – Ambassador Bassey Archibong

A Former Ambassador to Gabon, Ambassador Bassey Archibong has alleged that the deposed President of Gabon, Ali Bongo, and his father will have ruled Gabon cumulatively for 56 years by November. He said in an interview with Arise TV news that the Ali Bongo family hegemony in Gabon started as far back as 1957 after Ali’s father took over power. According to him, the Gabon people appear to be discontented with the continuous reign of the Bongo family as President.

He said, ”In most of these countries, their constitution has no term limit. And that is why he [Ali Bongo] can run so many times. Cumulative Ali and his father would have ruled Gabon for 56 years by November. Because his father took over in November 1957 when the first President died. And ever since then until he died in 2009 and his son took over. So cumulatively the Bongo Ondimba have ruled the country for almost 56 years.”
