Don’t confirm El-Rufai for Nigeria to have peace – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a socio-political commentator, has advised the Senate against confirming former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai to be minister.
Sani warned that El-Rufai should not be cleared if Nigeria wants peace to reign.
Describing the former governor as playing god while he was governor, Sani said El-Rufai was now at the mercy of the Senate.
Tweeting, he identified the former governor as a religious extremist and a fanatic.
According to Sani: “The Unconfirmed Ministerial nominee; The Imp who was intoxicated with power, and who arrogantly played God is now at the mercy of those wielding power.
“A religious extremist with a fanatical political agenda should have no place in the seat of power if that nation desires peace.”
The Senate had refused to confirm El-Rufai alongside two others due to security issues.

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with former governors of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The two former governors are ministerial nominees.However, while Wike was screened and confirmed by the Senate, the nation’s upper legislative chamber did not confirm el-Rufai because of an alleged security report.
The former governors arrived the State House separately.
While Wike came at about 1:40p.m., el-Rufai entered the presidential wing of Aso Rock at 2p.m.
Sources at the Presidential Villa hinted that efforts are being made to ensure that the Senate confirms Mallam el-Rufai.

PEPT: Justice Odili Denies Working For Tinubu

Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili, has denied social media reports that she is negotiating a pathway for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The reports, authored by one Jackson Ude, had alleged that Peter-Odili, was regularly meeting with the Appeal and Supreme Courts in respect of the matter.
A statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt and signed by the media assistant to Peter-Odili, Chief Felix Enebeli, said lawyers of the retired Supreme Court Justice were working on the defamation arising from the false allegation.
The statement reads in part: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication circulating in the social media against the person of the retired Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili, wherein the author, one Jackson Ude, falsely and maliciously alleged inter alia, that the revered jurist is “currently negotiating a pathway for Bola Tinubu” and that “she meets regularly with Appeal and Supreme courts” in that regard.

Secretary General of West African Universities Union(WAUU) and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Kwara state, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole(SAN) has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to lead the war against the Niger Republic despite provocations but explore non-violent-means to resolve the crisis.
Professor Egbewole gave this advice in Ilorin while declaring open the maiden conference of the Consortium of Eight Universities based in Kwara State (KU8) held at the main auditorium of the University of Ilorin.
The conglomerate Eight universities based in Kwara state are the University of Ilorin,host university, Alhikma University, Ilorin, Summit University in Offa, and Landmark University in OmuAran.
Others are Ahman Patigi University in Patigi, Thomas Adewumi Oko-Irese,Ojaja University also in Ilorin and Kwara State University, Malete also in Kwara state.
Egbewole noted that, “while all efforts to restore constitutional order must be made, Nigeria should not at this time lead a war coalition against her neighbour in spite of provocations.
