Senate Spokesman reveal Akpabio’s Villa Visit After Kayemo Screening Uproar

According to Channels Television, Senate Spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu has opened up on why Senate President Godswill Akpabio visited the Presidential Villa on Monday midway through plenary session.

Senate Spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, says Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, did not visit the Presidential Villa on Monday because of the uproar generated in the red chamber over the screening of a ministerial nominee, Festus Keyamo.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Senatorial District disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview on Channels TV.

According to the spokesperson, Akpabio visited the Presidential Villa on Monday to discuss the coup in Niger Republic, and not to discuss the screening of ministerial nominee Festus Keyamo.

Yemi Adaramodu said that, “The President (Akpabio) stood up yesterday (Monday) to go to the Villa, not because of Festus Keyamo; not because of any screening. There had been a prior invitation of the Senate President and the leadership of the Senate to the Villa based on the security issues, especially the coup in Niger Republic.”

@statesmanblog said that, “Recall that a presidency source confirmed that Mr Akpabio is currently at the presidential villa but his mission is unknown. Mr Akpabio’s visit is believed to be connected to the fate of Mr Keyamo, who was minister of state for labour and employment in the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

The senate spokesperson also said that, “Keyamo was just one of the 48 ministerial nominees of the President and one nominee cannot generate such a concern for the Villa to invite the Senate.
