Tinubu summons Nigerian Ambassadors to return home

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has decided to summon back all Nigerian ambassadors from their diplomatic missions across the globe.

According to the Guardian, this directive was officially announced by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, on Saturday. He said that the recall was to take effect immediately.

His unwavering commitment to enhancing the efficiency and quality of service provided by the Nigerian consulate offices and embassies worldwide has driven this decision.

Through a meticulous examination of the current state of affairs in these establishments, he has determined that a change is desperately needed. Going forward, he aims to establish a world-class standard in both domestic and foreign service delivery, benefiting Nigerians abroad, residents, and potential visitors alike.

However, recognizing the significance of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly later this month, he has exempted Nigeria’s United Nations Permanent Representatives based in New York and Geneva from this recall.

This exemption acknowledges the importance of their role in representing Nigerian interests in the global arena and underscores his diplomatic prudence. His bold step signals a new chapter in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement worldwide.
