Gov Mbah Denounces The Amount That Enugu Loses Every Monday Because Of Sit-at-home

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, expressed his concerns about the negative impact on the state’s economy caused by the sit-at-home order enforced in the state and other South-East states, allegedly imposed by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

During a discussion with the President-Generals of all autonomous communities in the state, Governor Mbah highlighted that the state suffers a financial loss of over 10 billion naira every Monday due to the disruption of economic activities.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters on Friday, July 14th, the Governor appealed to the President-Generals to communicate to the residents in their respective communities that there is no official sit-at-home order in the state on Mondays or any other day of the week.

Governor Mbah emphasized the crucial link between poverty and the self-imposed sit-at-home practice. He emphasized that each Monday of inactivity results in a loss of over N10 billion in economic transactions that should have taken place within the state.

He stated, “Individuals who would typically extend their stays in hotels until Monday before traveling choose to leave on Sundays instead. Consequently, the revenue that hoteliers would have generated is lost.”

Furthermore, the Governor noted that the sit-at-home order prevents individuals from engaging in economic activities within the state, hindering potential growth and development.

Governor Mbah urged the public not to follow directives from unelected individuals and assured them that security operatives are prepared to safeguard lives and properties in the state.
