The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, paraded one Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, a fake Army General, who allegedly defrauded a victim of N270m by using President Muhammadu Buhari’ s name.
In a statement released by the EFCC, it is noted that the suspect forged a letter he claimed to be from President Buhari in a bid to defraud his victim whom he cajoled in believing that the president had shortlisted him and one other to be appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, COAS.
On Facebook, EFCC in a statement titled, ” EFCC Arrests Fake Army General Who Claimed Buhari Nominated Him As COAS for Alleged N270m Fraud, ” said:
” Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, have arrested one Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, a fake Army General, for an alleged N270m fraud.
” The suspect, who posed as a General in the Nigerian Army, allegedly made false representations to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, that the President, Muhammadu Buhari, had shortlisted him and one other to be appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, and that he needed a short grant ” to press and process the appointment. “
” He also allegedly forged a letter of appointment as COAS purportedly signed by the President and showed the same to the victim to further prove his claim. “
@Ibrahim Abubakar, who reacted to the story on Facebook said, ” The victim should equally be arrested for foolishness. At this age of information and orientation, a whole company could get easily defrauded like this? Habaaa. The victim is also corrupt. How will you borrow someone that huge amount to ‘ push’ his appointment. In a sane climes, appointments are gotten my merit and not by ‘ pushing’ . “
@Samagbeyi said, ” The victim attempted to aid corruption by borrowing that money, since he is aware of the intention of the man he should be also prosecuted. “
