No agent submitted his polling unit to Peter Obi, we owed them N10,000 each -Arabambi

Following the recent judgment by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, a faction of the Labour Party led by Lamidi Apapa has responded to the outcome. It’s worth noting that according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged as the winner of the presidential election, defeating other prominent candidates, including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, contested the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja. However, the court dismissed their petitions on Wednesday.

Abayomi Arabambi, the faction’s spokesperson, shared his perspective on the situation in an interview with The Punch paper. He revealed that many of the party’s agents left with the result sheets from polling units because the party had failed to fulfill its promise of paying them a stipend of N10,000.

Arabambi explained, “From the beginning, no polling agent was paid, and I remember telling Nigerians it is something that may affect us after the election. None of my agents was paid. Out of the over 190,000 polling units, we only presented to INEC that we have agents in over 130,000.”

He continued, “The remaining was not uploaded. Even in the 130,000 we had, no agent submitted his polling unit result to Peter Obi. We owed them N10,000 each.”
