Tribunal: Its Highly Suspicious That Tinubu Traveled To India On The Eve Of The Judgment' -Ezike

Nigerian Lawyer James Ezike has expressed suspicion regarding President Bola Tinubu’s trip to India just before the Presidential Election Tribunal’s judgment. During an interview with Arise TV news, he noted that such timing raises suspicions, as it suggests a lack of concern on Tinubu’s part, assuming the judgment would be in his favor.

Ezike also commented on the historical trend of election outcomes in Nigeria. He pointed out that it is not unexpected for the incumbent to be favored by the courts, emphasizing that no elected President has ever been removed from office by the Supreme Court since the inception of democracy in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. He expressed concern over this recurring pattern and mentioned that frequent changes in electoral laws have further contributed to the challenges faced by opposition candidates.

In his words, “It’s highly suspicious that Bola Tinubu traveled to India on the eve of the judgment. Without being worried that behind his back, they may say he lost the election. He’s in a foreign land. But what I would like to say more importantly is that it’s not unexpected; no elected President has ever lost in the Supreme Court, none since we started democracy. And that is worrisome. Another thing that makes it difficult for an incumbent to be defeated is that we change our laws.”
