'No Igbo Man Will Tell You That He Doesn't Have Sympathy With How We Are Treated In Nigeria' – Ubah

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South, has decried the marginalization of the Igbo people in Nigeria. In a recent interview with Channels TV, Ubah lamented that the average Igbo person feels shortchanged and excluded from power at the federal level.

According to the senator, the Igbo strongly believe they have been at the receiving end of injustice in the Nigerian federation for far too long. He noted that there is a perception among the Igbo that they have been systematically marginalized in terms of federal appointments, infrastructure development, and allocation of critical resources.

Ubah stressed that the Southeast geopolitical zone has been particularly sidelined in access to governance and economic opportunities. He insisted that the region has been deprived of its fair share, leaving it impoverished and underdeveloped compared to other parts of the country.

The senator affirmed that no Igbo person will deny the obvious marginalization and fundamental inequality meted out to the Igbo in the Nigerian equation. He warned that the perceived injustice has bred bitterness and apathy towards Nigeria among the Igbo populace.

Ubah called for urgent steps to be taken to address the Igbo question in a structural manner to promote equity, justice, national unity and progress. He advised that the lopsided federal structure must be reformed through dialogue to adequately accommodate the interests of the Igbo people.
