Tribunal: "Peter Obi Will Soon Be Declared President" – Julius Abure Tells Diasporan Supporters

In an August 28 report by the Independent paper, Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, conveyed a message of optimism to supporters of the party in the United States of America. Abure expressed the conviction that Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 elections, is on the brink of being declared the President of Nigeria. This statement arrives in anticipation of the impending verdict from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

Since the electoral process concluded, the PEPT has been immersed in the deliberations arising from Peter Obi and the Labour Party’s challenge against the pronouncement of Bola Tinubu, the APC’s lead candidate, as the election victor and the legitimate President of Nigeria.

Julius Abure, who is presently conducting a tour in the United Kingdom and United States to galvanize support from party members and other backers, conveyed a resolute message. He underscored how Peter Obi’s participation in the 2023 general election reshaped Nigeria’s political landscape. This transformation, according to Abure, entailed the challenge of the established order and a commitment to persistently advocate for what they perceived as their rightful claims.

Abure confidently anticipated that the PEPT would issue a verdict between now and September 16, 2023. He asserted his firm belief in Peter Obi’s ascension to the presidency. Abure also touched upon the Labour Party’s conviction that the prevailing state of the nation demands effective solutions, which he contends the party and Peter Obi are equipped to provide.

As they awaited the tribunal’s decision, Abure rallied his supporters to maintain their morale and determination, reiterating his unwavering conviction that the prospect of Peter Obi’s presidency remains plausible.
