Tinubu Vows To Remove All Obstacles In Power Sector, Ensure Stable Electricity Supply Nationwide

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore on Friday to keep his campaign promise of assuring uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the country.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the president stated his willingness to address all challenges to steady energy supply in Nigeria. According to Ajuri, Tinubu addressed at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 350MW Gwagwalada Independent Thermal Power Plant (Phase 1) in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.

According to the statement, the president declared that his administration would address the numerous difficulties confronting the electric power sector value chain. Tinubu stated that enhanced energy generation and delivery is critical for national development and growth. He urged the NNPC and its partners to complete the historic project within the three-year time frame stipulated, adding that “three years must be three years.”

“Although the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) is currently characterised by massive supply-gap deficits due to dilapidated power infrastructure and poor distribution networks, amongst other things, this administration is poised to address every power value chain challenge that will significantly relieve suppressed demand, enhance generation, and improve national peak growth & sustainability far above the previously abysmal and unacceptable 5,300MW for over 200 million people.”
