Reactions As Sen. Sani Describes How Some Nigerians Are Waiting for the PEPT Judgment

Senator Shehu Sani has sparked a flurry of reactions with a post on Twitter (now, X) in which he described the mood of the nation in anticipation of the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).

This follows media reports indicating that the PEPT is set to deliver judgment on the cases brought before it by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, against the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the February 25 presidential election.

According to the former federal legislator, because some Nigerians have mixed expectations about the judgment, they are prepared to respond to it according to how it swings.

In his words, he wrote:

“Some people are waiting for Judgment with their two hands behind their back; one hand holding a flower and the other hand holding a stick.”

The senator, by the post, implied that most Nigerians would embrace the judgment if it favours their preferred candidate but would readily protest it if it goes the other way round.Unsurprisingly, the majority of those who reacted to the tweet agreed with him, noting that he aptly captured the mood of the nation in the post. Many admitted that they are among those holding both a stick and a flower in separate hands in anticipation of the tribunal’s verdict.
